Dance Rehabilitation

There are over 100,000 dancers, either professional or students in the United States. Due to the numerous hours of pounding, stress and repetitive abuse dancers put on their bodies, injuries can commonly occur.

Many of our clinicians have advanced experience treating dancer injuries. Common injuries that dancers may experience include ankle sprains, foot pain, patellar tracking disorders, low back pain and hip impingement/pain. Injuries may occur from one specific incident or general abuse on his or her body over time.

Our experienced physical therapists are trained to find the cause of the problem and treat it so the dancer and can quickly return to dance pain free. They are familiar with the specific techniques and mobility a dancer requires to fully compete or participate in the different genres of dance.

Due to the stress on the body and explosive nature of dance, a dancer requires specific stretching and/or strengthening which other athletes may not require. It is recommended that the injured dancer see a physical therapist who has experience working with dancer injuries and has a good knowledge of the dance.
