Work Conditioning

Work conditioning is a unique aspect of physical therapy that helps injured individuals return to work. While most common in workers’ compensation cases, any individual who has suffered an injury and is struggling to return to work is a candidate. Work conditioning serves as a transitional program between the traditional physical program and actual work. The physical therapist will address a variety of issues ranging from strength and flexibility to reaching, carrying and lifting technique. In addition, proper posture and ergonomics of the workplace may be discussed. Prior to enrolling in a work conditioning program, participants may undergo a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) to determine their capabilities and deficits. This information is then used to establish the specific goals and guidelines for the program.

If you, or someone you know is concerned about returning to work and suffering an injury or being unable to perform the essential functions of the job, enrolling in a work conditioning program may be your best choice.
