Vestibular Rehabilitation

Dizziness problems can occur in any age, but is much more common in people over the age of 40. According to recent studies, approximately 40% of the population will experience dizziness issues in their lifetime.

Dizziness and vertigo may occur for many reasons. If you experience dizziness or vertigo, you should check with your doctor to determine if physical therapy if the best option in treatment. Vestibular symptoms may range from dizziness, visual disturbances and/or imbalance. Nausea and/or vomiting may also occur.

People may experience dizziness due to weather changes, sinus infections or colds, whiplash, a hit to the head, traveling by airplane or boat, etc. Very commonly, patients report simply waking up with severe dizziness and vertigo (spinning).

A trained physical therapist will listen to your symptoms and examine your medical history. You will be put through a series of simple tests/activities to determine what type of dizziness you have and how quickly it may be fixed.

Depending on the type of dizziness you may have, it can be corrected in as quickly as one visit. Other forms of dizziness may require a longer recovery time and may require a home exercise program.
